On February 11, 2012, one of the greatest singers of all times passed away. Whitney Houston, cited in 2009 by Guinness World Records as the most-awarded female act of all time, had risen to world fame with hits such as “How will I know”, “Greatest Love of All” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”.
In honor of Whitney, Christina has chosen to perform her signature song, “I will always love you”, for her YouTube audience. With Whitney being one of Christina’s biggest vocal influences, this song is so special to her that this time, she decided not to play the piano, so that she could fully focus on the vocals:
This will be one of the few times, where I am not playing the piano and singing, mainly because this song is just so big and I can’t… honestly I can’t make it through without tearing up or crying or like falling short.
So there was just no way I could really do it justice without just singing to a karaoke which is what I did for this one. But I honestly feel like I gave it my all and I gave it my best in honor of Whitney, and I just, I really, really love her so much.
Before saying anything else: Compliments for Christina’s outstanding bravery to perform this song. It amazes us how far she has come, and how much her voice has developed.
So what do you think of Christina’s performance, Team Grimmie? All we have to say is, if the 1992 romantic thriller “The Bodyguard” should ever get a remake, we definitely know who’s gonna play Rachel!
As an aside, did you know that Houston began singing with her New Jersey church‘s junior gospel choir?
